JARDIM DO PALÁCIO DE CRISTAL - PORTO Four days will quickly steep themselves in night; Four nights will quickly dream away the time; And then the moon, like to a silver bow New-bent in heaven, shall behold the night Of our solemnities.

To visit the Porto Metro is to participate in a metaphysical experience. In Sao Bento particularly the emptiness, scale and grandeur of the space creates an environment in which the traveller is both essential and incidental. There are fleeting moments of great beauty, of which the participants are unaware. The human forms are design elements. The lighting and the deep spaces create silhouetted human forms which enhance the abstract qualities. To stand back and observe the coming and going of travellers is to see both randomness and purpose simultaneously. The station acts as a stage, a vessel, a conduit and microcosmic environment through which matter passes. The steel silver and pale blues resonate and are reflected in the polished floors, and in an echo of the airport in Porto, there is a sense of deep water. Porto Spring 11 , a set on Flickr.
